Türkbükü and Gölköy 
These two fishing villages are mention in one name,
because they are so close to each other. ıt is located on the peninsula map east of
Yalikavak. These delightful spots are the favorite retreats of many well-known
Turkish artists, actors and entertainers who appear at many small bars and
restaurants at night. Several of the more popular restaurants are run by
Istanbul couples who have fled the big city.
Facing the sea and surrounded by the mountains, GolTurkbuku region is
dotted by ancient sites. There are caves and tombstones ın the vicinity
of the town. Until recent times, the local population made their living from farming and fishing. Since
the rise of tourism however, GolTurkbuku has become home to a very intellectual
group of people; journalists, men of literature and fine arts who have built desirable homes
to get away from the cities. Restaurants have jetties to offer fishing feasts for
gourmets
at night time and swimming possibilities during the day time.
To solve the environmental proplems, the local inhabitants formed an association
called the "Turkbuku Village Environmental Protection, Culture and Tourism
Society". This very active group have just conducted a film festival and
secured the installation of a village sewer system.
